And so to help discover effective treatments in this time of crisis, we are putting our scientific and clinical expertise towards helping to determine an effective treatment for new diseases.
Since 1987, we’ve conducted state-of-the-art clinical trials at UW Positive Research. We’re consistently part of breakthrough research that leads to better care for everyone.
HIV treatment is better than ever today because individuals just like you chose to participate in clinical trials.
Yet challenges remain.

The video clip above is from the introduction to our April 28, 2020 Community Advisory Board (CAB) meeting, where our Director Emerita, Dr. Ann Collier gave some background on COVID-19 and explained what led our parent network, the AIDS Clinical Trials Group, a federally funded HIV treatment research network, to conduct COVID-19 research.
Our efforts to improve the lives of all people living with HIV must continue.
And we need to find a cure.
Many of our studies are chosen, designed and conducted with guidance from people living with HIV.
And our COVID-19 studies have been developed under the advisement of people who have survived the disease and those who have been affected by it as well.

Stigma negatively affects the health and well-being of people living with or at risk of acquiring HIV by discouraging people from learning their HIV status, accessing treatment, or staying in care.
