Having trouble taking your HIV medication every day?
The CROWN study may be an option for you.

Oral antiretroviral therapy (ART) is effective HIV treatment when taken as prescribed. Most people can reduce their viral load enough to make it undetectable. This means they can stay healthy and will not transmit HIV to others.

But oral ART doesn’t always work the same for everyone. That’s why the CROWN study is part of the effort to find more treatment options for people whose HIV is not undetectable on oral ART.

What is the CROWN study?

The CROWN study is evaluating a potential injectable HIV treatment for people whose HIV is not undetectable. Researchers will compare the study treatment to oral ART to see if it may be more effective in reducing the viral load in people living with HIV.

If you choose to join this clinical study, you will play a key role in advancing HIV research.

Who can participate?

You may be eligible to participate in the CROWN study if you are:

  • 12 years of age or older

  • Living with HIV that is not undetectable

  • Currently being treated with oral antiretroviral therapy (ART)

You will need to meet additional requirements. The study doctor will review these with you.
